Yesterday, my three-year-old daughter didn’t know how to draw a tree. But today, she does. Yesterday, my 15-year old nephew didn’t know how to simplify an algebraic expression. But today - thanks to his high school math teacher - he does.
We all begin learning the moment we are born.
But, for many of us, after we reach the end of our formal education, learning becomes more sporadic. Maybe we think we’ll learn on the fly. Maybe, we think our employers are responsible for teaching us what we need to know. Or more likely, busy lives get in the way of dedicated learning. Meanwhile, in today’s rapidly evolving landscape of work, job security is a constant fear for workers who see how AI and automation are affecting the workplace.
According to Skye Learning’s first annual Work Confidence study, less than half (40%) of employed respondents feel very secure at their current job. And about one in four (23%) expressed a need to upgrade their job skills in order to remain employable. The survey, which probed the attitudes of 1,004 people between the ages of 21 and 70 who have at least a high school diploma, found that almost half of workers surveyed (44%) don’t think their college education played an important role in giving them the skills needed to succeed at their job.
Skye Learning was launched from the idea that credit-based and certification-centric training is the key for workers of all ages to truly future-proof their careers. By earning credits and getting certified, workers can signal to their current and future employers that they’re driven and motivated to remain up to date in their field. Skye’s focus is on giving learners the training needed to make more money, to get promoted, to earn those critical certifications, and to do all of that in a convenient and cost-effective manner.
Skye Learning is not a crowd-sourced learning platform. Courses are carefully curated and thoughtfully designed by experts and instructors to ensure workers learn concepts and earn credits quickly. Credit can come in the form of a certificate, a certification, or a micro-credential such as a badge. And Skye Learning is affiliated with MindEdge Learning, IACET, PMI, CFRE, HRCI, OMCP, SHRM, and (ISC)2 to award professional development credits across many topics to help you maintain your certifications.
Skye Learning’s newly released website also offers a searchable certification database called CertSearch, that enables visitors to research valuable certifications in their industry that will help bolster their existing skill sets. A certification is a formal credential awarded to applicants who take and pass a certification exam, such as the PMP exam for project managers, the CFA exam for financial analysts, or the CISSP exam for cybersecurity professionals. The CertSearch database is a resource for anyone wanting to research available and relevant certifications.
Skye Learning is your destination for building a credential-laced resume that will stand out among your peers and future-proof your career for years to come.
