Common Exit Survey Questions

Exit surveys have the same goals as exit interviews. Surveys also contain a list of questions surrounding the employee's time with the organization, focusing on the termination of employment. Exit survey questions may include:


Collecting data and feedback from exit interviews and surveys provides the organization with information to create or revise retention policies and lower turnover rates. If companies can identify trends in the reasons for termination, then they can make policy changes to address those reasons, as in the case of the manager whose lack of leadership skills resulted in high turnover rates. Organizations can link diversity and inclusion initiatives to retention policies, aimed at identifying and addressing any terminations directly related to bias or discrimination.
