Photography has evolved drastically over the years. For example, the original photographs lacked color, whereas color photography is widely used today. While cameras used to be the sole form of technology used for photography, mobile devices are now equipped with high-tech cameras that can be used to take professional-looking photographs as well. With the consistent invention of new camera and editing technology, photography will continue to change and reach new heights for years to come.

Finding the proper exposure in a photograph requires mastering certain camera settings. There are numerous settings for a beginner photographer to become familiar with, and each camera may also have unique settings specific to the camera model. However, there are three settings in particular that beginner photographers should have an understanding of before taking photos: aperture, shutter speed, and ISO.
